FAQ
1. What is Tangle?
Tangle is a music library management app. It helps you organize, sync, and explore music that lives across different platforms and files. It acts as a control layer on top of your existing tools.
2. What is Tangle not?
- A music player (although you can play songs from Tangle)
- A streaming service
- A recommendation engine
- A replacement for Spotify, Rekordbox, or your file system
It doesn’t try to tell you what to listen to. It helps you understand and organize what you already have, however you want.
3. Do you store my music?
We don't upload or host your audio files. It reads metadata and references from connected platforms and local files. Your music stays where it already lives.
4. Is it safe to connect my library?
Yes. Safety is our core design principle.
- Sync operations are reversible.
- You choose which version to keep when there's a disagreement between Tangle and one of your platforms.
- Automatic backups are created.
- Nothing is overwritten silently, unless you want it that way.
You always stay in control.
5. What platforms are supported?
See the full list on Supported platforms
6. Does Tangle write or change my files?
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap.
7. Can I undo a sync or change?
Yes, Tangle is designed to let you experiment without fear.
8. Is Tangle free?
We are still deciding what extra features will be for pro users only, but our principle is that the free version should be a full app, and aim to keep the core of Tangle (browse, explore, organize) free.
9. What happens if I stop using Tangle?
Tangle doesn’t lock your data into a proprietary system. Your music stays exactly where it was.
10. I've found a bug. What do I do?
We actively rely on feedback during the beta.
