What is Tangle?
Tangle is a music library management app. It helps you organize, sync, and explore music that lives across different platforms and files. Think of it like a control layer on top of the tools you already use.
What is Tangle not?
It’s not:
- A music player (though you can play songs from Tangle)
- A streaming service
- A recommendation engine
- A replacement for SoundCloud, Rekordbox, or your file system
It doesn’t try to tell you what to listen to. It helps you understand and organize what you already have, however you want.
Do you store my music?
Nope! Tangle doesn’t upload or host your audio files. It reads metadata and references from connected platforms and local files. Your music stays exactly where it already lives.
Is it safe to connect my library?
Yes. Safety is our core design principle.
- Automatic backups are created on every sync.
- Sync doesn’t overwrite changes blindly — it merges them intelligently based on what changed in each platform.
- If you ever sync something you didn’t mean to, you can revert to a previous version using a backup.
What platforms are supported?
Today Tangle connects with SoundCloud, Tidal, Bandcamp, Rekordbox, YouTube, and your local files, with more on the way.
Does Tangle write or change my files?
Tangle doesn’t modify your audio files directly. Right now it only updates the tags and playlists that songs are associated with on connected platforms. Editing track metadata directly in Tangle (for supported platforms) is on our roadmap.
Is Tangle free?
Tangle is free to use, and the app will always stay free. We plan to introduce optional paid features down the line, but the core functionality will always be accessible to everyone.
What happens if I stop using Tangle?
Nothing bad. Tangle doesn’t lock your data into a proprietary system. Your music stays exactly where it was.
I've found a bug! What do I do?
